Things I did during last night's Classic Traveller game...
Examples of things in the rules and things not in the rules, applied fast and on the fly, during last night’s game.
- Needed 3 thugs real fast. Rolled their 3 primary stats on the fly. 2d6, in order, 3 times each. Assigned each 2 skills, armor, and a weapon. 60 seconds - tops.
- DEX roll for a character trying to do something cool but not in the rules. Set a target number. Done.
- Used Classic Traveller surprise rules, one of the PCs has +3 (ex military, leader, tactics)
- Used simultaneous combat, as in the Classic Traveller rules
- Gave the groups NPC a Streetwise-1 roll to notice something shady in a tavern
- In Marc Miller fashion, I used a random 2d6 roll to set the roll equal to or over for success number for something a PC said he wanted to do, but for which I had not prepared and thought it should be random
- Let the dice fall as they may - PC took 14 points from a 2d6 auto pistol hit. Knocked out, plus a lot of damage to a 2nd stat.
- Used the “First Blood” rule in the above hit
Classic Traveller, and 2d6 SF in-general, work great for fast play. We never get bogged down in crap.
